Education Awareness workshop


In line with its Education programme area, Teen Africa provided technical support to Center for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA); on the Education Awareness workshop of the multi-country Research on Improving systems of Education (RISE) project funded by DFID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Oxford Policy Management. The Nigeria RISE project which is aimed at understanding how school systems in developing countries can overcome learning crisis and achieve quality education as implemented in such countries as Ethiopia, Pakistan and Tanzania has:

  •  to understand how issues such as community engagement, parental aspirations & investments, student motivation and local politics affect education outcomes at community level
  • to demonstrate how a local experiment involving constructive dialogue and commitment from policy actors could have an impact on education as its objectives.

The workshop which was organized by CSEA, the RISE project and the African School of Economics witnessed the presence of education stakeholders in Enugu State amongst whom were the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze, Traditional rulers, Mrs Olachi-Chuks Ronnie, DFID Regional Coordinator for the South East & South South Nigeria, represented by Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, Permanent secretaries and Directors in the Ministry of Education, Political party candidates, Local government chairmen, Education secretaries, heads of private schools. School Based Management Committee heads and members to mention a few
